Dr. Ralph Thomas (Tom) Reach, MD — President & Founder

Dr. Tom Reach of Reach Recovery & Integrated Health and coworker

Dr. Ralph Thomas Reach, MD — known to many patients and colleagues as Dr. Tom Reach, or simply as Doctor Tom — is a physician trained in Addiction Medicine and Family Medicine with decades of experience helping patients recover from substance use disorders. He practiced emergency medicine for more than 20 years in the coalfields of Central Appalachia, an area often described as ground zero for the opioid epidemic.

In recovery for decades himself, Dr. Reach is an active member of the recovery community and a passionate advocate for patient rights, evidence-based medication-assisted treatment, expansion of access to care, enforcement of parity laws, and criminal justice reform for people struggling with addiction.

He served on the Legislative Committee of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) for four years and is a Past President of the Tennessee Society of Addiction Medicine. In 2012, Dr. Reach became board-certified in Addiction Medicine, further strengthening his expertise in treating individuals with substance use disorders.

A graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, Dr. Reach is licensed to practice medicine in North Carolina and is registered with the DEA to prescribe controlled substances, including Suboxone for the treatment of opioid use disorder.

Dr. Reach has dedicated his career to helping people maximize their health and well-being. He continues to focus his practice on addiction medicine, providing Suboxone treatment and comprehensive care for patients seeking recovery.

Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Reach enjoys attending 12-Step meetings and spending time with his wife, Maggie, on their small farm in Jonesborough, TN.
